Episode Description

My first 3am Google search as a mum was "will a baby have hiccups forever." I was genuinely concerned she'd be forty. In an office. Still hiccuping. And people would ask if she was okay and she'd say "mum didn't fix it."

It got weirder from there. Poo charts. Cot escape plans. Whether I was holding her too much. Whether she'd be sad if she fell asleep without me.

And then the funny ones ran out. And I ended up where I always end up at 3am — staring at my phone in the dark, asking the same question over and over, just dressed up in different searches.

Are my kids okay? And am I enough to keep them okay?

  • Zooming in on a baby poo chart like I'm picking paint for the kitchen
  • The milestone rabbit hole and why one search always turns into ten
  • That guilt maths thing — where you try to work out if you're loving them too much or not enough
  • Feeling split in half between two kids at 3am
  • Reading forum posts from 2009 like they're medical advice
  • That heavy lonely feeling of being the only one awake on the whole street
  • What all those searches were actually asking underneath
  • The thing a mum friend said that made me stop and breathe
